Well, we have been working away getting our display sorted out at Olivers Woodturning shop and we are slowly getting there. The wood turning blanks are now here along with the Zap adhesives.
Yesterday, Thursday 14th of August, Chris Pouncey from Robert Sorby was waiting on our door step with our lovely new shiny Robert Sorby display stands, so we now have their products hanging up for everybody to see.
We hit a couple of problems while installing the Sorby stands. Firstly, there was a fluorescent light fitting that was too low and positioned right where the stand was going, so after a quick bit of thinking the light was moved. Then the next problem! The display stand is 3 metres long and we had 5 metres of wall space in which to mount the display stand. Though it may sound simple, unfortunately it wasn’t! There was a structural steel beam that was too low, and this prevented the stand from fitting. The general consensus was that my idea of cutting through the beam should be rejected on building structural integrity grounds, so an alternate solution was employed. So, we now have two Robert Sorby display stands, one 2 metres wide and one 1 metre wide.
We have also added a fully working ProEdge display model so that we can demonstrate the ProEdge working and soon we’ll be able to offer a re-sharpening service.
All in all the display in our little shop is looking pretty good. We have a good range of woodturning blanks for pen turners and woodturners alike, as well as a selection of abrasives supplied by Klingspor and Robert Sorby, a good selection of tools from Robert Sorby and Planet-Rotus, finishing products manufactured by Chestnut products, record bench grinders, wet wheel sharpeners, and of course the ProEdge sharpening system.
If you are a woodturner or are considering taking up woodturning then feel free to pop along and take a look at the Olivers Woodturning Shop. We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Unit 5 Bearsted Green Business Centre, Bearsted, Kent, ME14 4DF.
