Simon Hope Carving Jig

The Simon Hope Carving Jig is available as a complete kit with a tool post and a thread. Or you can also buy without a post if you already have one. (Please note that theses jigs no longer fit the Robert Sorby tool post system)

Once you have turned your piece of work and want to enhance it with some carving often it’s awkward to hold. Or there is a danger that you’ll slip with whatever type of cutter you’re using and there’s the potential for an accident. You can avoid this by leaving your work piece in the chuck and using the Simon Hope Carving Jig. This simple system allows the work piece, while mounted in the chuck, to be held in the tool rest holder of the woodturning lathe banjo. Leaving both hands free to tackle the carving.

The Simon Hope Carving Jig system has a 3 axis movement. It gives total control over the angle at which the work is held. You can adjust the angle quickly and easily with the one handed levers.

Very simple but very effective way to hold your work for carving.
